From Mumbai to Dubai: Building a Business with Purpose

A Short Summary of My Business | Vrushali Ajay Zagade

As Founder and Creative Director of CreativeBees Hive Events LLC, I lead an experiential event planning and décor company based in Dubai that creates meaningful celebrations—from large-scale corporate events and cultural festivals to weddings, brand activations, and intimate family milestones. Every event we create is built around one belief: people may forget the details, but they will always remember how an experience made them feel.

What began as a small home-based décor business in 2017 has today grown into a registered mainland company in the UAE, trusted by families, entrepreneurs, and nearly 30 renowned brands and organizations across healthcare, hospitality, education, retail, entertainment, media, and real estate. Our growth has never been driven by advertising alone—it has been built through trust, referrals, and lasting relationships with our clients.

How My Entrepreneurial Journey Began

When I look back, I realize my entrepreneurial journey began long before I started my business.

Growing up in a humble middle-class family in Mumbai, I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and responsibility from my parents. I was always drawn to creativity through dance, drama, celebrations, and community events. Even then, I found joy in bringing people together.

My professional career started while I was still studying. I worked as a Data Entry Operator before moving into marketing, where I discovered my greatest strength—connecting with people. Those years gave me valuable experience in communication, relationship building, problem-solving, and understanding people—skills that continue to shape the way I lead today.

At nineteen, the passing of my father became a defining moment in my life, requiring me to step up as the eldest sibling and assume greater responsibilities. That difficult chapter shaped my resilience and taught me to keep moving forward, even during uncertain times.

After marriage, I moved to Dubai and started building a completely new life. Like many women who move abroad, I had to rediscover my identity, adapt to a new culture, and create opportunities from scratch. Those experiences eventually gave me the confidence to build something of my own.

What Inspired My Business

Celebrations have always been a part of who I am.

Even during my corporate career, I naturally found myself organizing birthdays, festivals, employee engagement activities and office events. Creating memorable experiences never felt like work – it felt like something I was meant to do.

For a while, I found myself choosing between two dreams: opening a café because of my love for cooking or building a business around celebrations.

My heart chose events.

In 2017, I started my business from home with a simple vision – to create celebrations that bring people together and become lifelong memories. Over the years, that small dream has grown into CreativeBees Hive Events LLC, serving multicultural communities across the UAE.

Early Challenges and Bold Decisions

Like every entrepreneur, I started with more passion than resources.

I had no team, no elaborate setup, and no guarantee that my business would succeed. My very first opportunity came through a close friend who trusted me with a baby welcome décor setup. I poured my heart into that project, and seeing the family’s happiness gave me the confidence to continue.

The early years were filled with uncertainty. There were slow months, moments of self-doubt, and times when I questioned whether I was doing the right thing. But every challenge became a lesson, and every successful event strengthened my confidence.

One of the boldest decisions I made was accepting my first wedding project. It felt overwhelming because of the scale and responsibility involved, but I chose to step outside my comfort zone instead of saying no. That single decision became a turning point, opening doors to larger weddings, multicultural celebrations, and eventually my first Arabic wedding—an experience that broadened my understanding of different traditions and cultures.

Another milestone I’m incredibly proud of is the journey itself. I started as a home-based entrepreneur in 2017, later established my business as a licensed company in Dubai, and in 2026 proudly registered CreativeBees Hive Events LLC as a mainland LLC. Every step reminds me that sustainable growth takes patience, consistency, and belief.

My Leadership Style

I believe leadership begins with leading by example.

I stay closely involved in every project because I believe great experiences are created through collaboration, empathy, and attention to detail. I value relationships over transactions and believe trust is the strongest foundation for any business.

I’m also passionate about creating opportunities for women. We regularly collaborate with talented female entrepreneurs—including balloon artists, entertainers, emcees, gifting specialists, face painters, and other creative professionals—because I believe success becomes more meaningful when we grow together.

Whenever challenges arise, I focus on solutions instead of problems. Entrepreneurship has taught me that resilience isn’t about never failing—it’s about continuing to move forward with purpose.

What’s Next?

The next chapter is about creating an even bigger impact.

My vision is to grow CreativeBees Hive Events LLC into a globally recognized experiential events brand known for creativity, excellence, and meaningful storytelling. I want to expand into larger productions, destination celebrations, and immersive brand experiences while continuing to serve multicultural communities with the same personal touch that built our reputation.

Beyond business growth, I hope to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs—especially women—who dream of starting something of their own. If my journey can inspire even one woman to believe in herself and take that first step, I will consider that one of my greatest achievements.

For me, success has never been just about building a company. It’s about creating opportunities, bringing people together, and proving that with resilience, passion, and consistency, an ordinary dream can become an extraordinary reality.
