Lara Tseng | A Humanitarian Leader and Educator

An entrepreneur, philanthropist, and award-winning educator, Lara Tseng is bridging cultures, empowering communities, and transforming lives through education. With more than two decades of international experience, she has built a career surrounding global business, cross-cultural literacy, and humanitarian service.

As the founder of Laraglobalpedia, Lara has built an innovative learning platform that blends multilingual storytelling, global perspectives, and real-world issues, cultivating empathy, critical thinking, and global awareness in students from a young age. The inception of Laraglobalpedia took place in Lara’s home when, as a multilingual mother, she began reading picture books in English, Mandarin, Russian, German, and Japanese to her children. This practice evolved into a pioneering curriculum that introduces children as young as five to geography, history, and international affairs through the lens of culture.

Gradually, Lara’s courses evolved to incorporate current events and geopolitical studies, helping students in Taiwan and beyond see the world as interconnected and diverse. Following her innovative course, she started making videos, eventually taking the shape of a podcast. Well-aware of the tough path being a woman, Lara aspires to be the role model of her 8-year-old daughter, and make young minds like hers aware of all the strong women leaders who are changing the world. With this vision, she started her podcast series “herStory – She Persisted,” where she introduces trailblazing female leaders regardless of nation or time.

This exceptional work by Lara has been recognized with the KKBOX “Top 100 Podcast Award” in Taiwan and the “BeingShe Best Women Empowerment Podcast Middle East” honor for her groundbreaking tri-lingual series #HerStoryYourStory, which celebrates the lives of female trailblazers across history and cultures. She has also been honored with the GESS Educational Award, 2024 – Global Citizenship, recognizing her outstanding performance in the education sector in contributing to underprivileged groups as refugees. “My mission is simple — turn barriers into bridges so every woman, from the GCC to conflict zones, can shape her own future,” Lara says.

Witnessing firsthand the challenges Syrian refugees face in TĂĽrkiye and Syria, in 2023, Lara designed and founded the Small School Support Project (SSSP) and later the Taiwan International Refugee Education Support Association, expanding her mission into the humanitarian space. SSSP provides targeted, sustainable aid to small, under-resourced schools that often fall outside the reach of large NGOs or UN programs. Under her visionary leadership, it became the first NGO delivering consistent financial support to besieged schools inside the Al-Rukban refugee camp, helping nearly 600 students and 24 teachers. Beyond financial aid, SSSP offers free, high-quality online courses, vocational training, and professional development that empower youth to become economically independent and socially engaged.

Furthermore, driven by a continuously expanding vision and a strong commitment to SDG 4 – Quality Education, SSSP became a member of the Global SDGs Alliance in 2025. This alliance brings together 12 organizations worldwide, empowering international youth to think critically and take leadership in sustainability on a global scale. For Lara, both LaraGlobalPedia and SSSP represent more than projects — they are her lifelong mission to develop and practice sustainability in education from every angle.

With a blend of working across cultures and fluency in languages, Lara’s career is shaped by her experience from negotiating in Moscow’s boardrooms to building trust in Syrian refugee camps, teaching her the art of communication. This expertise not only enriches her educational programs but also enables Lara to connect authentically with the communities she serves, be it in person or digitally. Lara mentions, “People come first — business is simply the tool to make empowerment last.”

After all these years, Lara is still committed to her core belief: Education is not a privilege, but a Bridge. Envisioning a future where every child and woman, regardless of birthplace or circumstance, can access the tools, skills, and opportunities, she believes they can shape their own destiny. She adds, “Empowerment is not charity — it’s building the skills, confidence, and opportunities for women to stand on their own, no matter where they are.” Whether through Laraglobalpedia’s innovative global curriculum, SSSP’s targeted humanitarian projects, or her inspiring podcast, Lara Tseng continues to lead by example — reflecting that if passion meets purpose, education can become the most powerful force for change in the world.
