Building Spaces, Leading with Vision

In an industry where design and construction often operate in silos, Dahlia Mahmood chose a different path early on; one that gave her full control over both vision and execution. Today, she stands as a globally recognized interior designer, developer, and builder, known for shaping spaces that are not only visually striking, but deeply personal.

Her journey began at just 17, when she founded Dahlia Design in Washington, D.C. There was no roadmap, only instinct, discipline, and a clear belief in her own capabilities. What started as a bold step forward gradually evolved into a multi-award-winning, full-service firm, handling complex, high-value projects entirely in-house. That decision to integrate design with construction became one of her strongest differentiators.

Over the years, Dahlia has taken her work across borders, serving a clientele that includes international royalty, elite athletes, and prominent families. With each project, her focus remains consistent: to create spaces that reflect the people who live in them. Her work doesn’t chase trends. Instead, it leans into balance where elegance meets functionality, and detail is never an afterthought.

This approach has earned her recognition across the industry. She has been named among Fixr.com’s most exciting leaders and continues to be acknowledged as a leading voice in design. Most recently, she represented the United States at the iDogi® International Design Awards in Venice, where she won in the Residential Project Over 1,000 sqm category, placing her among a global circle of accomplished designers.

Her work has also been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, HGTV, Bravo TV, and Haute Residence. Beyond media recognition, her children’s bedroom designs have quietly built a strong following online shared widely for their creativity and thoughtful execution.

At the core of Dahlia’s work is a simple but powerful idea: spaces should feel intentional. “I work to bring beauty into people’s lives, and there is nothing more personal than a home,” she says. That belief shows not only in her projects, but in how she leads—calm, precise, and grounded in purpose.

As her business continues to grow, Dahlia remains equally committed to mentoring emerging talent and supporting new ventures. Her journey is a reminder that experience is built over time but the decision to start, and to lead with conviction, can happen much earlier.

Dahlia Mahmood is not just creating interiors. She is building a way of working; one where vision is protected, details matter, and every space tells a story.
