Leading Responsible Transformation in Finance

For Dr. Yasmine Helal, transformation has never been about technology alone. It is about people, governance, and trust, and about building institutions capable of lasting impact. Across a career spanning more than two decades, she has followed a single conviction: that innovation and humanity belong together, and that organizations handle change best when they do so with purpose and clarity.

As financial services are reshaped by digital tools, fintech, and rising customer expectations, Dr. Helal has become a recognized voice on governance, leadership, and organizational change. Her work across the public and private sectors has helped shape Egypt’s financial ecosystem while preparing leaders and institutions for what comes next.

She has held senior roles at several of Egypt’s leading financial institutions, including Citibank, Commercial International Bank (CIB), ADIB Egypt, the Central Bank of Egypt, and ADI Consumer Finance. Each of those chapters deepened her understanding of how innovation, governance, and leadership support one another. Her experience reaches across digital banking, consumer finance, financial inclusion, fintech strategy, and executive leadership. Moving between multinationals, regulators, and entrepreneurial ventures has given her a wide view of where the industry is heading.

Today she is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Athar Consultancy, a boutique advisory firm built to help organizations transform with purpose. The name is deliberate. Athar means “impact,” or the mark we leave behind, and it captures the idea that has guided her throughout: that leadership is measured not only by results, but by the lasting influence a leader creates within an organization and its community.

Through Athar, Dr. Helal works with boards, executives, founders, and family businesses on strategy, governance frameworks, leadership development, executive coaching, and digital and fintech transformation. She helps them move from vision to execution while strengthening their governance and resilience along the way.

Her influence extends well beyond client work. She serves as Rapporteur of the Cultural Investment Committee at Egypt’s Supreme Council of Culture, sits on the Advisory Board of

ESLSCA Executive Education, and is a Board Member of Taly for Digital Payments. Each role reflects a steady commitment to developing future leaders and supporting sustainable economic growth.

A committed lifelong learner, Dr. Helal is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Paris School of Business, where her research examines fintech, innovation, and financial inclusion. She is also an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC), working with senior executives, founders, and leadership teams to sharpen their presence, strategic thinking, and effectiveness. Her coaching rests on a simple premise: exceptional leadership begins with self-awareness. Technology may speed up change, but people decide whether that change becomes meaningful and sustainable.

That belief runs through all of her work. Innovation and governance, she argues, are not competing priorities but complementary forces, and the organizations that thrive are those that pair strategic vision with ethical leadership and a real understanding of people.
