The Woman Behind the Numbers: How Empathy, Trust, and Execution Shape Extraordinary Businesses
When people hear the word mathematician, they often imagine someone who spends their life with numbers.
For Iram Kauser, numbers have always been the easy part.
Over the course of sixteen years, Iram came to realise that every business tells two stories. One is written in numbers, and the other is written in people. And more often than not, the second story shapes the first.
How people communicate, how they make decisions, whether leaders trust their teams, whether fear quietly shapes the choices being made every day. This understanding has become the foundation of everything she does today.
One of approximately 75,000 qualified actuaries worldwide, Iram has spent sixteen years solving complex commercial and operational challenges for businesses across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the United Kingdom. Her senior leadership roles include Head of Operations for the Middle East and Africa at Gallagher, and, at AIG, Chief of Staff to the regional CEO alongside Head of Pricing and Portfolio Management, where she managed executive priorities across more than 150 staff and directed pricing and portfolio strategy for a multi-line business worth more than $100 million.
As the Founder and CEO of Pivot Prime, a Dubai-based operations and execution consultancy, Iram helps founders and growing businesses increase profitability, strengthen execution, and scale successfully in the UAE. Her track record includes securing a $40 million banking partnership, supporting a new market launch projected to generate more than $20 million in revenue, and improving profitability while reducing operational costs and processing times across global organisations.
Today, through Pivot Prime, Iram supports founders and international businesses entering and expanding across the UAE. She works with founders and leadership teams across sectors including consumer products, financial services, insurance and technology, with current clients and businesses originating from the United Kingdom, India and Africa.
Her work combines market-entry strategy, pricing, operational design and hands-on execution, helping businesses move beyond advice and build the commercial foundations required to launch, operate and grow profitably in the region. In a recent engagement, a pricing redesign took a client from loss-making to a projected 13 percent profit margin, with breakeven inside eleven months.
Rather than delivering recommendations from the sidelines, the consultancy works alongside leadership teams to build the operational foundations that allow businesses to grow sustainably.
What sets Iram apart is not simply her background in mathematics, but her belief that business performance and human psychology are inseparable.
“The systems inside a business often mirror what’s happening inside its leaders,” she explains. “Fear of delegating, fear of making the wrong decision, fear of letting go of control. Those patterns slow businesses down just as much as inefficient processes.”
Alongside leading Pivot Prime, Iram is also a certified life coach specialising in emotional resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence. She has worked with women from diverse backgrounds, helping them build the confidence to navigate anxiety, step into leadership and create lives that reflect their ambitions.
Although business consulting and coaching appear to be different worlds, she believes they are deeply connected. “Whether I’m helping a founder scale a company or coaching a woman to believe in herself again, the work begins in the same place. Creating clarity, building confidence and helping people move forward with intention.”
Looking ahead, Iram’s ambition extends beyond growing Pivot Prime into one of the Middle East’s leading execution consultancies. She hopes to play a small part in shaping a new generation of leaders, where commercial success is measured not only by financial performance, but also by the cultures they create and the people they inspire.
She is a passionate advocate for women in business and believes too many have been taught that leadership requires them to become harder, louder or less themselves in order to be taken seriously. Her experience has shown the opposite. Some of the strongest leaders she has worked with (both men and women) lead through empathy, humility, curiosity, and trust. They create environments where people feel valued, where ideas are welcomed, and where teams choose to give their very best.
For Iram, leadership is ultimately an act of belief. Believing in people before they believe in themselves. Seeing potential before there is proof. Creating environments where people feel safe enough to think boldly, trusted enough to take ownership and supported enough to grow. Respect, trust and compassion are not soft leadership qualities. They are the foundations upon which extraordinary people and extraordinary businesses are built.
She wants the next generation of girls to grow up believing they can lead billion-dollar businesses, shape industries and change lives, without ever feeling they have to sacrifice their femininity, compassion or authenticity to succeed.
Because the future of leadership doesn’t belong to those who lead with fear. It belongs to those who build trust, lift others as they climb and prove that strength and kindness have always belonged together.
Having lived in the UAE for ten years, Iram considers the country home, and the space it has created for women to build, lead and be taken seriously is one of the reasons she chose to start her own business here.
